Century College Volleyball Signs 2 new recruits for 2023-24!
The women's volleyball is excited to announce the signing of two new recruits to the 2023-2024 team!
Josie Popp is an outside hitter/defensive specialist from Richfield (MN) High School. Among her accomplishments, she was named offensive and defensive player of the year by her high school team. She was also voted to be captain of both her high school volleyball team and her club volleyball team. "Every student-athlete has a story, and I am excited that Josie has decided to have us be a part of hers," stated head Coach Jay Kam. "We love competition at every position here at Century and Josie's positional flexibility, leadership, and athleticism is going to add a lot to our program. The fact that she is a local product is a plus".
Also signing with the Wood Ducks is Middle Hitter Lexi Helmin from Sauk-Rapids-Rice High School. Alexis brings with her an energy and determination that any program appreciates in its players. Coach Jay Kam cannot say enough about their new recruit stating "When I first saw Lexi play, the power she brings with her swings was impressive. Even more impressive was her energy and making her teammates better. Whether she was on the court or on the sideline, she had an infectious energy that all coaches are looking for."
With a strong nucleus of returning players, including All MCAC players Kiyomi Callahan and Gabrielle Schwirtz, and other key contributors from last season's NJCAA 4th Place team, coach Kam is excited about the 2023-2024 season.
