Despite the canceling of season, volleyball team striving in classroom
As disappointed as the Volleyball team was to have their season cancelled due to Covid, the players on the volleyball team are continuing to thrive with their education here at Century. Alandra Hickman and Jasmine Yang will be graduating in the spring and plan on transferring to a state university where they will be pursuing degrees in business. McKenzie Lartch is also on track to graduate in the spring and plans on going to Mankato State where she plans on obtaining her degree and license in education. Lisa Rodriguez will finish up her AA in the spring and has applied to the radiology tech program here at Century and hopes to start up next fall. Greta Warmka is currently in the prosthetics program here at Century and Concordia University, St Paul. Although players miss the court and competition, they are keeping up with their studies, working their many jobs, and planning for their futures.
Coach Jay Kam is busy recruiting for next fall and is excited to get back on the court as well. Like most colleges with the many restrictions put in place for high school volleyball attendance, recruiting has been challenging. The late decision to add volleyball back in the fall left high school coaches scrambling and most rosters on team websites are empty which adds to the difficulty. If you are interested in playing volleyball for Century College and want to learn more, coach Kam would be more than happy to meet with you in person or via Zoom, please fill out the recruiting questionnaire or email him directly at jay.kam@century.edu.
