Ducks Win Season Opener
Adrian Warcken collected three hits in four at bats, as the Century College Wood Ducks defeated Minnesota Post Grad 18-2 on Wednesday 2/7 at River Falls, WI. Warcken doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fifth inning. The Wood Ducks opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to three walks. Century scored nine runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Warcken doubled, scoring one run, Caden Preston induced Dom Vogel to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, Seth Nelson doubled, scoring two runs, a passed ball scored one run, Jorgenson tripled, scoring one.
Wes Nelson earned the win for the Ducks. The reliever surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking two. Seth Luther began the game for the Wood Ducks. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Cole Bakkum, Jake Schmidt, and Brandon Hugo each came on in relief for Century College Wood Ducks and shutdown Minnesota post Grad.
The Ducks accumulated 11 hits in the game. Seth Tierney and Warcken each collected three hits. Jorgenson and Warcken were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs. The Wood Ducks had patience at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game. Bakkum and Winky Estrada led the team with three free passes each. Seth Nelson and Vogel each stole multiple bases.
The next game will be played in Flordia. The Duck will be playing 11 games in the RussMatt Invite in Central Florida starting on March 3rd.
